Astaka Holdings has topped off The Astaka’s twin residential towers (below) at its One Bukit Senyum township in Johor Bahru. The towers have a gross development value (GDV) of RM1.4 billion ($454 million).

The Astaka twin towers, which stand at 1,020 ft and 915 ft above sea level, are the region’s tallest residential towers. They supersede the current tallest residential tower, The River South Tower in Bangkok, which stands at 846.4 ft. The taller of The Astaka’s towers has 70 floors, five more than the other.

The project is set to be completed in 2018 and will have 438 residential units. The Astaka will rank as Johor’s tallest building and one of Malaysia’s top 10 tallest buildings.

Occupying 11.85 acres of freehold land — approximately the size of nine football fields — One Bukit Senyum will have a gross floor area of 6.3 million sq ft when completed in the next few years. The township has a GDV of RM5.4 billion and will also house the new 15-storey headquarters of the Johor Bahru City Council, a 450-room five-star hotel, 1,012 residences, 254 serviced apartments, a 1.5 million sq ft shopping mall and a Grade-A office building.
