SINGAPORE (EDGEPROP) - Australia’s mixed-use building One Central Park has been named one of the 50 Most Influential Tall Buildings of the Last 50 Years, by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH).

Developed by Frasers Property Australia and Sekisui House Australia, One Central Park is located in Sydney. Completed in 2014, it comprises two residential towers atop a retail podium. The development was designed by Ateliers Jean Nouvel (with collaborating architect PTW), and the interiors were by Smart Design Studio (West Tower) and Koichi Takada Architects (East Tower).

At One Central Park, plants are grown both vertically and horizontally on the two towers. There is also a heliostat, and lighting artwork by Yann Kersalé.

The CTBUH has recognised each tall building on the list for “exemplifying a milestone over the last 50 years of a dialogue between iconicity, contextualism, environmental consciousness and structural innovation”, according to a press release by the two developers. The recognition was made in conjunction with CTBUH’s 50th anniversary this year.

“This recognition solidifies Central Park’s place as a landmark development recognised across the globe as a beacon of what can be achieved with high-density yet highly sustainable urban design,” says Mick Caddey, development director of Frasers Property Australia.
