Global hospitality brand Banyan Group has unveiled its first resort under the Banyan Tree brand in Zhuhai, China. Located in Guangdong Province, the opening of Banyan Tree Zhuhai Phoenix Bay marks the group’s 20th year in the country and reinforces its continued growth in the market, the company says in a Nov 18 release.
The new hotel is located beside Angsana Zhuhai Phoenix Bay, which Banyan Group also operates. Together, the hotels form a resort complex along the shores of Phoenix Bay, overlooking the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.
Banyan Tree Zhuhai Phoenix Bay features 83 rooms with either mountain or sea views, with selected suites offering onsen-style hot springs or private pools. The resort houses four dining venues, such as Xun, serving Minnan cuisine, and Rong, offering dishes such as handcrafted dim sum.

Other amenities include a Banyan Tree-branded spa with its own spa cafe, an ocean-view gym and an infinity pool. Guests also have access to outdoor wellness offerings such as Wing Chun martial arts, singing bowl resonance and beach meditation. For events, the resort has a Phoenix Ballroom — a pillarless, 9m ceiling venue that spans 9,289 sq ft, accommodating private ceremonies and larger celebrations.
According to Banyan Group, the new hotel will add to its existing portfolio of 37 operational hotels in China. “The debut of Banyan Tree in Zhuhai represents a significant step in our expansion journey across China,” says Phillip Ding, senior vice-president of hotel operations and business development for Banyan Group China.
In Singapore, Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree started welcoming guests earlier this year. The property is Banyan Group’s 100th hotel globally.
