UK-based developer Berkeley will launch a new phase of 999-year leasehold apartments at its riverside development at Gillingham, Kent, in Britain, on Dec 9. The new phase – named The Horizon – will comprise 47 units, including Manhattan suites as well as one- and two-bedroom apartments.

The Horizon is part of Berkeley’s 8ha Victory Pier development, which sits along a broad section of the River Medway. Victory Pier is targeted at buyers who are priced out of London and other commuter towns in counties surrounding the capital, says Berkeley. When fully completed, it will comprise 775 residential units as well as student accommodation for the University of Kent’s Medway campus.

Manhattan suites in this phase will be sized from 383 sq ft, while one- and two-bedroom apartments will be sized from 465 sq ft and 671 sq ft (gross internal area) respectively. Prices for a Manhattan suite start from £149,000 ($269,600); one-bedroom apartments are priced from £180,000 and two-bedroom units from £246,000. Each unit comes with a balcony.

Amenities at Victory Pier include a private Wi-Fi lounge and gym. The food and beverage outlets and cinema at Chatham Maritime Marina is an approximately ten minutes’ walk away from the development, according to Berkeley. Victory Pier has an expected completion date of 4Q2019.
