CapitaLand Mall Asia has inked another shopping mall management contract in Xi’an, its second in western China in five months. The new mall is located in La Botanica, a township in Xi’an’s Chan-Ba Ecological District. It is being developed by CapitaLand- Henderson (Xi’an) Property Development, a joint venture between CMA and Hong Kong-based Henderson Land.

Under the management contract, CMA will oversee asset planning, pre-opening and retail management of the five-storey shopping mall — four levels above ground and one at basement level — with a gross floor area (GFA) of 538,200 sq ft, excluding the car park. According to CMA, the mall is expected to be operational in 2019.

This deal follows CMA’s announcement in August 2016 that it is managing the retail component of Fortune Finance Center in Changsha, for Changsha Pilot Investment Holdings. With the mall in La Bota nica, CMA now manages a portfolio of 14 shopping malls in western China with a combined retail GFA of about 12.16 million sq ft.
