The Exchange – a mixed-use building at the heart of Lendlease’s Darling Square precinct – is up for sale.

Designed by Japanese architecture firm Kengo Kuma and Associates, The Exchange will be a seven-storey community and retail building featuring offset circular floor plates and a facade wrapped in almost 20 kilometres of sustainably sourced timber.

The mixed-use building will include a ground floor food and beverage destination with Chinese restaurant Golden Century as the anchor mezzanine tenant. Levels one and two will house a City of Sydney library to connect the community with information, ideas and resources.

The Darling Square library will open next year. A childcare facility on levels three and four will be leased to the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. The level five rooftop offering has views of the Sydney CBD skyline, the Chinese Garden of Friendship and Darling Harbour.

Upon completion, Darling Square will bring together approximately 1,500 residential units, 26,000 square metres of commercial office space, 12,000 square metres of retail, community and leisure uses, 1,300 bed student accommodation and a 590-room luxury hotel, the Sofitel.

Lendlease has appointed CBRE to market The Exchange building internationally.
