SINGAPORE (EDGEPROP) - On Nov 17, property listing and news portal EdgeProp Singapore signed an MOU with proptech platform Simply Sakal to enhance content and data sharing across both platforms.

Simply Sakal is an associate business of Sakal Real Estate Partners, property technology (proptech) company with a dominant focus in investment sales and capital markets advisory. Simply Sakal is a proptech platform that focuses on driving productivity within the property management industry.

“The property management industry in Singapore has not notably evolved for many years. The extent of technological advancement is limited and does not sufficiently leapfrog the industry ahead,” says Kenneth Chong, co-founder and executive director of Simply Sakal.

The proptech platform was founded by Chong and Sakal Real Estate Partners in 2020 to meet the needs of a new generation of property owners, a generation that is more informed and in tune with technology, says Chong.

He says that homeowners and property asset owners value transparency when they are involved in the management of their assets. “Technology platforms enable us to meet the level of transparency demanded by owners. We can clearly show the tasks, whether complaints are followed up, or areas that require more attention,” says Chong.

The firm started with about 220 units under management in 2020 and signed on large-sized developments in the following year, notably Seaside Residences, and commercial developments such as Junction 9.

Simply Sakal manages about 6,500 units to date, and most units under its portfolio come from existing residential developments island-wide. The company says their target is to double their portfolio size over the coming years.

The MOU with EdgeProp will see all of EdgeProp’s news and property content shared on the Simply Sakal platform. According to EdgeProp Singapore CEO Bernard Tong, both companies share a similar vision for the local real estate industry.

“EdgeProp is happy to work with a like-minded partner that shares our vision to help uplift the knowledge of homeowners and buyers when it comes to property seeking or understanding the property market,” says Tong.

He adds that both firms are exploring other opportunities for further integration. One possible case is to allow users of Simply Sakal to access the EdgeProp Fair Value property tool. “This tool will allow users to find out the indicative value of their property, price changes in the vicinity, and other useful property-related data,” says Tong.
