SINGAPORE (EDGEPROP) - Mandarin Oriental, Singapore, the 527-key luxury hotel located along Raffles Avenue overlooking Marina Bay, has closed from March 7 to undergo refurbishments. Renovations will take six months, and the hotel will reopen in September.

“As the sun set on the Marina Bay on Mar 7, we said farewell to the 527 rooms, seven food and beverage outlets, full-service luxury spa and many other facilities that have proudly served our guests for 35 years,” says the hotel general manager Philipp Knuepfer.

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group says the hotel will undergo a  “multi-million-dollar transformation”, redesigning and refitting the hotel’s interiors, including the lobby, rooms, and F&B venues. Interior design firm Design Wilkes, who also worked on the group’s properties in Dubai, Bangkok and Tokyo, will lead the redesign of Mandarin Oriental, Singapore.

“Whilst we are temporarily closed to our guests, we will focus all our efforts on the transformation of what promises to be a spectacular new version of Mandarin Oriental, Singapore,” says Knuepfer.

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is a member of the Jardine Matheson Group. It operates 36 hotels and nine residences in 24 countries and territories.
