As a leader, Ayu Yanti believes deeply that “it takes a whole village to raise a child”, and just as importantly, that “it takes a whole division to groom a top achiever”.

No one succeeds alone. An individual’s environment, peers and mentors all play critical roles in shaping success. For Ayu, this belief translates into her leadership philosophy: nurturing agents in her Synergy division, so they thrive. To do so, she focuses on building a culture rooted in sharing and of strong support systems — one that aligns not just thoughts and energy, but also hearts.

Leadership, she says, always starts from the top. “If I begin with the right intention, I believe God will make things easier for me. He will place the right people around me so we can achieve our goals together.”

Her mission has remained consistent: to help people within her division, whom she considers brothers and sisters, become champion agents in the shortest time possible — and to ensure they give back to the team. This creates a continuous cycle where experienced agents relearn, improve and grow together.

Ayu describes her leadership style as inspired by the Montessori approach: self-directed learning, confidence-building and providing carefully selected guidance tailored to each individual’s character. She especially enjoys mentoring agents who have first done their legwork and approach her to seek higher-level clarity: refine strategies, identify mistakes and understand missteps.

“My specialty is locating the root cause of a ‘malfunction’ and repairing it,” she shares of the process, which she finds deeply fulfilling.

She actively encourages knowledge exchange within the team. New agents glean from the experience of senior agents, while senior members stay relevant by learning from younger ones about emerging trends and technologies. As a leader, Ayu positions herself as the bridge that initiates and sustains this mutual learning.

Walking the talk

Ayu applies different strategies for each agent based on personality, hunger for success and income goals. The biggest challenge, she acknowledges, is dealing with non-starters — those who procrastinate, don’t put in the effort and lack discipline.

Determined to lead by example, she and her husband who is her business partner, aim to be among the top 10 agents in ERA every year. “My words carry weight because I walk the talk,” she says. “I will listen only to a guru who does the same.”

When asked about her inspiration for joining ERA EmpowHer, and the change she hopes to drive, Ayu speaks candidly. “As a woman, I understand the challenges of juggling children’s needs, household responsibilities and — often the hardest part — husbands,” she says. She empowers women to manage expectations at home, remain filial wives and, most importantly, motivate their spouses to become partners in their journey, so both parties grow and earn together.

“For those who are married, we can learn to accept our spouses’ strengths, complement one another and work hand in hand to create greater results,” she adds.

If there is one core value that Ayu holds firmly, it is this: to pursue work that gives intrinsic satisfaction, with financial rewards to boot. The former teacher, who was passionate about teaching children in our schools now imparts her knowledge to adults. Indeed, she has now found her calling as a real estate mentor, a role which brings her tenfold satisfaction. And after winning the Top Division of the Year 2024 at APBC 2025, it brings the reward as well.
