With the school holiday approaching, a family may skirt around the idea of taking a holiday but looking at the time may realize it’s too late. How about a staycation then? A staycation that requires no booking, check-ins/check-outs, room availability hassle or even a budget! You must have guessed it by now- a home that is done up like a hotel is the ultimate staycation — especially considering the time constraints. Hotel-inspired homes have gained popularity in recent years. Although we understand that one week is too little of a time to reinvent your house into a hotel concept, we do think that a home can be decked up into one and here are some homes-turned-hotels to inspire you.

Stark sophistication
A vanity section serves as a divider between the wardrobe and sleeping area. Strategically placed mirrors help make a room appear larger, while black lines give it a well-defined look.

Modern minimalist
A minimalist design and colour palette will help create a tranquil effect in your bedroom. Create a peaceful ambience with basic furnishings and a grey-meets-wood décor.

Chic and sleek
Keeping it sleek and streamlined — just like what you would expect in many luxurious hotels — creates the perfect oasis of calm for a master bathroom. Scented candles and warm downlights complete the picture.

Home suite
With just a few glamorous touches, this bedroom makes you feel like you’ve walked into a hotel suite.

Simple and classy
Like hotel bathrooms, this home version stands out with its use of industrial-like tiles, mirrors and glass — a modern approach to interior design. It is the perfect sanctuary in which to unwind at the end of the day.
