ISKANDAR PUTERI (Dec 11): UEM Sunrise Bhd unveiled the Gerbang Nusajaya Interchange, a new infrastructure link intended to enhance access to the Malaysia–Singapore Second Link Expressway, and improve overall mobility in Iskandar Puteri.
The interchange is scheduled to open to the public at 12am on Saturday, Dec 13.
Once operational, the improved link is expected to ease traffic congestion, shorten travel times, and reduce logistical bottlenecks—all of which would strengthen cross-border movement and bolster Johor’s attractiveness to investors, businesses and skilled professionals.

Among the anticipated benefits is an estimated 15-minute commute to the Tuas Checkpoint in Singapore. Positioned at the western gateway of Iskandar Puteri, and located approximately 5km from the Sultan Abu Bakar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex, the new interchange provides direct connectivity to the Second Link.
It also improves access to nearby residential, commercial and industrial zones, including Nusajaya Tech Park (NTP) and the Southern Industrial and Logistics Clusters (SILC), both of which support a significant and expanding workforce.
As of the third quarter of the year, Johor recorded Malaysia’s highest investment value at RM91.1 billion, underscoring continued confidence in the state’s economic trajectory, said UEM Sunrise in a statement on Thursday.
"Our focus is to put in place infrastructure that supports how people live, work and move every day," said UEM Sunrise's managing director and CEO Shaharul Farez Hassan. "The Gerbang Nusajaya Interchange is a key enabler for the township."
He adds that the interchange will strengthen access to the Second Link Expressway, support growing business activity under the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), and improve mobility not just within UEM Sunrise's townships but also across the surrounding townships as Iskandar Puteri continues to mature.

Developed jointly by UEM Sunrise’s subsidiary, Nusajaya Rise Sdn Bhd, and Leisure Farm Corporation Sdn Bhd, the RM166.4-million project features a trumpet-design elevated interchange, supported by upgrades to local road networks, and improved ingress and egress routes across Gelang Patah and Gerbang Nusajaya.

The investment is expected to be positioned as a catalyst for economic growth, social mobility and international connectivity under the JS-SEZ.
The interchange forms a central component of the 4,471-acre Gerbang Nusajaya integrated township, which carries a long-term gross development value of RM45 billion.
It links established neighbourhoods with future phases of the development, including more than 2,900 residential units and commercial spaces slated through 2026.
Recent market performance indicates sustained demand, with the final phases of Aspira Hills landed residences fully sold within minutes of launch, reflecting continued interest from owner-occupiers and cross-border professionals.
Industrial activity anchored by NTP also continues to expand, supporting sectors such as high-tech manufacturing, logistics, automation, and digital-economy operations.
The enhanced interchange is expected to improve business efficiency and complement ongoing federal and state initiatives to attract high-quality investments.
The opening of the Gerbang Nusajaya Interchange marks a significant step in reinforcing Iskandar Puteri’s role as Flagship B of the JS-SEZ, enhancing the city’s appeal as a destination for investment, employment, and long-term living.
