SINGAPORE (EDGEPROP) - Co-working operator The Work Project will open a 50,000 sq ft co-working space at 6 Battery Road in October this year. The opening of the new co-working space will coincide with the completion of asset enhancement works currently undergoing at the building.

The Work Project tells EdgeProp Singapore that it will operate the space under a management agreement and the new co-working location will occupy the third, sixth and seventh floors. The third floor will feature the main business hub with board rooms, meeting rooms, function room spaces, co-working offices and desks; while the top two floors will be dedicated to office suites.

“This [management agreement] partnership will not only allow the building owner to deliver integrated solutions to their tenants, but also increase the breadth of amenities available in the building. This will give the building an edge on the competition and drive higher returns,” says Noeleen Goh, global head of real estate at The Work Project.

Goh adds that this type of management agreement partnership between co-working operators and landlords will “change the landscape for the commercial market”. She expects to see more of such partnerships occurring in the local co-working market and around the Asia Pacific region.

The new co-working space will be designed in collaboration with design firm Matthew Shang Design Office (MSDO). "We drew inspiration from the trading and mercantile history of the river, as well as the building façade with its materials and form, to bring about a workspace which is intriguing, fascinating, and engages with its surroundings,” says Matthew Shang, creative director of MSDO.

When completed, this new co-working space will be The Work Project’s 10th co-working space, and it comes shortly after the operator added CapitaSpring in Singapore and Quay Quarter Tower in Sydney into its portfolio earlier this year.
