Sengkang has experienced rapid development since its early days as a fishing village. It is now a satellite residential town with a well-developed LRT system offering access to different parts of Sengkang. Sengkang also offers a wide array of work and play amenities, with the main shopping mall Compass One being Singapore's first thematic shopping centre based on the theme of learning.

The North-East Region is the second largest and most densely populated of the five regions in Singapore, with Sengkang being its most populous town. Spanning 13,810ha, the North-East Region is mainly a residential region and housing estate largely comprised of HDB flats. In addition to a myriad of amenities including hospitals, parks, schools and transport options, the region is also home to a few tourist attractions such as Pulau Ubin and Coney Island. Seletar Aerospace Park, which comprises of several aviation manufacturing and research facilities by companies such Rolls-Royce and Singapore Technologies Aerospace, provide employment opportunities to residents both within and beyond the region. Sengkang General Hospital, a 1000-bed hospital, is the largest in the region and is built to further the government's efforts to provide quality and accessible healthcare to all Singaporeans.

"really disappointed with this place, I had moved to other room but the AC kept very bad result, no WIFI that really contrary with what they posted, no good lighting. I do not highly recommend to stay for your vacation, very baddddd experiences"

"Such a Waste: Potential 5 Star Location: (with just simple adjustments needed) Many travelers might be willing to pay double or more if the following are fixed. Good place to just get off the city and rest for a day or two by the lake. Pros: Above water body (can see fishes at the balcony) Near a rather cheap gokart location & the coast. Near some seafood places. Looks pretty well designed but.. Cons: -Poorly Maintained, potentially beautiful & cozy that can justify better prices/rates but many door/shower/drawer knobs are spoilt loose. A little maintenance does help. -Aircon is not so cold at 16 degree, especially in the noon time, since the cabin is build facing the east sun (hottest) after 12pm, and the aircon can't offset the heat, but is ok at night. -Not really sound proof, simple advise, it can be advised the that TV/rest/play area be located in the middle of the cabins and have the bed facing away from the next door's TV. My bed was behind the tv/play area of the next door family's gathering. -Shower does not have heater, or is faulty, the water is rather cold to have proper shower, toilet smells alittle but is bearable. -Plenty of Mosquitoes no Mosquito lamps at balcony (cheap investment) -Not near any mega malls for immediate food choices. In short, a 5 star view and rest location for the lucky and not so fussy. But a 1 star if the stayer is slightly more fussy about all of these. Potentially easy to fix and charge higher with alil brainstorming and small fixes."

"This is a rustic retreat under the RedDoorz brand. Built on one side of an artificial lake, accomodation is chalet style with basic room amenities. The aircon unit will need time to cool the room and the cold shower will definitely be a nice pick me up in the morning. Bed is comfy and staff are generally nice. A seafood place is accessible down the road."

"Good location. Rooms are reasonable. AC did the job after a couple of hours of full blast. Right beside the Golden Prawn restaurants. Area is being developed, so should be nicer in a few years."
