Mapletree raises US$535 million equity for its student accommodation private trust

Mapletree Investments has closed Mapletree Global Student Accommodation Private Trust (MGSA P-Trust), the first trust in Singapore that focuses on student accommodation assets. MGSA P-Trust holds about US$1.3 billion in student accommodation assets in the UK and the US.
From the US$535 million in equity raised, about GBP195 million of equity was raised for the 5,910-bed UK portfolio and US$291 million for the 8,363-bed US portfolio. The UK portfolio includes Hawley Crescent, which is close to top universities in London such as Imperial College, University College London, King’s College and Goldsmiths, University of London.
Major investors include The Great Eastern Life Assurance Company Ltd, DBS Bank and UBS AG, who are investing in the trust on behalf of their high net worth clients.
