Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor in Siem Reap reopens after three-year closure

SINGAPORE (EDGEPROP) - Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor, part of the Accor hospitality group, reopens its doors to guests on June 1, the first time in almost three years. The heritage hotel in Siem Reap, which first opened in 1932, had closed for renovations and refurbishments in 2019. It was subsequently impacted by the onset of the pandemic.
“It is a magnificent feeling to bring this enchanting hotel back to life,” says Dennis de Groot, the hotel’s general manager. “The Grand Hotel is a national treasure, and its storied history is testament to Cambodia’s colourful past.”

The Grand Hotel, which will be celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, was originally built as a rest stop for archaeologists and adventurers seeking to explore the ancient kingdom of Angkor Wat. Today, it is a 20-minute drive to the Unesco Heritage site. Refurbishments carried out on the hotel include a facelift of its exterior façade, renovated room interiors and the addition of an events centre.
The reopening of Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor coincides with Cambodia’s easing of travel restrictions. Vaccinated travellers to the country are no longer required to serve a quarantine period or perform pre-departure and on arrival testing.
