Global hospitality brand Hilton has inked an agreement with ORIX Real Estate Corporation — the real estate arm of Tokyo-based financial services firm ORIX Group — to bring Conrad Hotels & Resorts to Kobe, in Japan’s Hyogo Prefecture.

Dubbed Conrad Kobe, the property marks Hilton’s maiden entry into the prefecture and expands the company’s footprint in the Kansai region.

The hotel will be developed under the Kobe City Hall Building No. 2 redevelopment project, headed by ORIX Real Estate Corporation, alongside a consortium of six other companies. Conrad Kobe will be managed by Hilton and is scheduled to open its doors in 2030.

According to a June 12 release, the 136-key hotel will occupy the upper floors of a newly built mixed-use high-rise building. The building will include a direct link to the Sannomiya-Hanadokeimae subway station.

The hotel will offer an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty restaurant, a lobby lounge, and a cocktail bar. There is also an executive lounge, an indoor swimming pool, a fitness centre, a spa and a 5,382 sq ft ballroom for events.

Conrad Kobe will join four other Conrad-branded properties in Japan: the existing Conrad Tokyo and Conrad Osaka, the upcoming Conrad Nagoya set to open in July 2026, as well as Conrad Yokohama, which will debut in 2027.

Joseph Khairallah, area vice president – head of Japan, Korea & Micronesia at Hilton, says that the latest signing demonstrates the company’s continued commitment to the Japanese market.

“Kobe, a city that has developed as an international gateway, offers a unique destination where rich history and culture blend seamlessly with the distinctive appeal of its waterfront,” he adds.
