Homegrown global furniture design brand Castlery, which operates direct to customers, has received B Corp certification — a globally recognised standard for social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability — by nonprofit B Lab.
The certification recognises companies that meet rigorous standards across five impact areas: governance, workers, community, environment and customers.
This makes Castlery the first Asian furniture design brand and one of the few global furniture companies to be B Corp certified, it said in an April 15 media statement.

Declan Ee, co-founder and president of Castlery, said: “We have always believed that great design should not come at the expense of the world we live in.”
The goal at the company “was always to design furniture that is responsibly made, safe for the home and built to last,” he added.
The company noted that it has built responsible systems across its operations, from the materials used in its products and how they are sourced, to reducing waste by donating or recycling returned items. Globally, it diverts about half of all returned products from landfills.
Castlery has been carbon neutral across Scope 1 and 2 emissions since 2023, and is working with supply chain partners to reduce Scope 3 emissions.
As an employer, the company has in place clear policies across its global operations and an expanded focus on health, wellness and safety of employees. For partners and suppliers, it practises transparent reporting aligned with international frameworks and certifications, according to the statement.
To ensure its products are safe for all, Castlery has obtained certifications — including Oeko-Tex, CertiPur and Tencel — for its materials such as textiles and polyurethane foam. It also implements chemical restrictions on suppliers across the supply chain.

Moreover, the company builds products with longevity in mind, including easy-care options such as performance fabric, and more than 60 products have removable covers that are either machine washable or replaceable.
In terms of responsible sourcing, Castlery makes sure that all raw materials used are not listed on CITES, or the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, which is a global treaty protecting species from over-exploitation.
All of the company’s rugs are also GoodWeave certified, which ensures home textiles are produced without child, forced or bonded labour.
Headquartered in Singapore, Castlery also has a presence in Australia, US, UK and Canada. Its furniture is manufactured in facilities across Asia.
In late March, the furniture brand announced it will launch its first brick-and-mortar store in the US. Situated in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighbourhood in New York, the flagship store spans 3,000 sq ft and will open its doors on May 15 this year.
The New York debut comes seven years after the digital-first startup had entered the US online. Today, the US online market is its biggest revenue generator, contributing 70%.
