When Renee Sim talks about success in real estate, she rarely starts with sales figures or awards.
Instead, she talks about people.
For Sim, real estate has never been simply about buying and selling properties. It is about building trust, creating meaningful relationships, and becoming someone the clients and associates can rely on throughout their life journey.
“Properties may be what we transact, but relationships are what we build,” she says.
The former national discus athlete and mechanical engineering graduate from the National University of Singapore entered the real estate industry in 2018. Today, she leads a close-knit team of specialists serving different segments of the property market.
Her vision has never been about building the biggest team. It has always been about building the right one.

Unlike leaders who focus on recruitment numbers, Sim focuses on developing people.
“I don’t want to mass recruit,” she says. “I want people who share the same values and genuinely want to build a long-term career in real estate.”
Her philosophy is simple: real estate should be treated as a profession, not a temporary opportunity.
Whether her associates choose to specialise in industrial properties, commercial assets, HDBs, resale homes, international projects or new launches, Sim wants them to know they have someone who can guide and support their growth.
That same commitment extends to her clients.
Many who first approached her for a property transaction continue to seek her advice years later. What begins as a professional engagement often evolves into a long-term relationship built on trust.
For Sim, some of the most rewarding moments happen long after a deal is completed.
“It means a lot when clients continue to reach out for advice or simply to share life milestones,” she says. “You realise the relationship has become much bigger than the transaction itself.”

Like many agents, Sim began her career focused on serving clients and closing transactions. But after Covid, she found herself looking beyond personal sales achievements.
“I wanted to challenge myself and see how much more I could contribute,” she says.
That journey began unexpectedly when the son of a fellow realtor chose to join Sim’s team instead of working under his own mother.
“It made me think that perhaps I had something more to offer beyond selling property,” she recalls.
Rather than rushing into recruitment, Sim focused on developing her leadership capabilities. She took on project leadership roles, progressing from project IC to project lead for major developments such as W Residences @ Marina View, Penrith and Amberwood at Holland.
These experiences taught her that leadership is not about managing people. It is about creating an environment where people can thrive together.
“Project leadership requires a completely different skill set,” she explains. “You need to align people, manage expectations, solve problems, and ensure everyone is moving towards a common goal.”

One characteristic that distinguishes Sim is her refusal to create replicas of herself.
Each member of her team is encouraged to pursue a niche that aligns with their interests and strengths. One specialises in commercial and industrial properties, another in international real estate, while others focus on new-launch projects.
“The most rewarding part is seeing them grow into their own expertise,” she says. “They’re not following exactly what I do. They’re building their own strengths.”
This culture of collaboration allows team members to learn from one another and share knowledge openly.
For Sim, success is never an individual effort. It is built through collective growth, shared learning and mutual support.
As the industry becomes increasingly digital, Sim believes one factor remains unchanged: trust.
While content creation and social media have become important tools, she sees them as platforms for education rather than simply lead generation.
To support this vision, she has invested in a content ecosystem that includes videography, content creation, and educational marketing initiatives for both herself and her associates.
The goal is not merely visibility.
It is about helping consumers make informed decisions while allowing agents to establish credibility and build meaningful connections.
“People work with those whom they trust,” says Sim. “Whether someone is buying today or years from now, our job is to consistently provide value.”
This philosophy has enabled her to build long-lasting relationships with clients who continue to seek her guidance throughout different stages of their property journey.
For many, Renee has become more than a property agent.
She has become a trusted advisor and family friend.

Much of Sim’s leadership style can be traced back to her years as a national athlete.
Sport taught her discipline, preparation, resilience and the importance of continuous improvement.
It also taught her that success is never achieved alone.
Behind every athlete is a coach who provides guidance, perspective and accountability.
Today, Sim embraces a similar role for both clients and associates.
Whether helping clients navigate important property decisions or mentoring agents through challenges, her focus is on empowering people to make better decisions with confidence.
“Sometimes people can’t see their own blind spots,” she says. “That’s where having someone you trust can make all the difference.”
Her role is not simply to provide answers, but to help others gain clarity and confidence as they move forward.
As she continues to grow her team, Sim remains unwavering about the values she seeks.
Technical skills can be taught. Market knowledge can be learned.
But accountability, integrity, perseverance and empathy form the foundation of lasting success.
These same values define the experience she strives to provide every client.
For Sim, a completed transaction is never the end goal. It is often the beginning of a long-term relationship.
Her clients know that whenever they need advice, reassurance or someone they can trust, she will be there to guide them.
Not because a commission is involved.
But because genuine relationships do not end when the paperwork is signed.
They continue to grow long after the keys have been handed over.
In an industry often measured by transactions, Sim distinguishes success differently — one relationship at a time.
