Infrastructure and civil engineering company OKP Holdings has secured a 48-month contract, commencing May 25, worth about $165.3 million from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) for commuter infrastructure works across Singapore.

Under the contract, Or Kim Peow Contractors, Singapore-listed OKP’s wholly owned subsidiary, will design and construct lift shafts at 30 existing pedestrian overhead bridges islandwide.

It will also undertake associated commuter infrastructure works. These include lift lobbies, link bridges, covered linkways and high covered linkways, roof covers to existing bridges, and other accessibility enhancements to improve connectivity for pedestrians and commuters.

The scope of work also includes enhancement works at certain existing pedestrian overhead bridges, addition and alteration works to existing lift shafts, and the construction of a new covered pedestrian overhead bridge with lift access and covered linkways across the Tampines Expressway.

The project aims to create a more inclusive and accessible transport environment for commuters through upgraded commuter infrastructure, said OKP group managing director Or Toh Wat in a May 28 bourse filing.

He added that the group will use efficient and green construction practices to optimise resources, reduce waste and minimise environmental impact throughout the project life cycle.

The new contract brings the group’s net construction order book to $760.7 million, with projects extending to 2031.
