Hyatt Hotels Corp announced the official opening of Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur (KL) today [August 7]. It marks the luxury brand's first foray into Malaysia. The hotel spans the 75th to 114th floors of Merdeka 118 - the tallest skyscraper in KL and also in Asia Pacific. Meanwhile, the 252 guest rooms stretch from the 100th to the 112th floors.

The hotel in KL is also the 50th property to be flagged Park Hyatt globally, according to Hyatt's group president of Asia Pacific, David Udell.

The new Merdeka 118 precinct is said to have "rich, historical significance" and is close to Petaling Street Chinatown, notes Herman Kemp, general manager, Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur.
