Mapletree Investments and Mapletree Pan Asia Commercial Trust have appointed SP Group to design, build, and operate a Distributed District Cooling (DDC) system in the HarbourFront Precinct. The system will interconnect five major buildings (Bank of America HarbourFront, the new HarbourFront Centre, the existing HarbourFront Towers 1 &2 and VivoCity) to supply chilled water via a shared network, which is targeted to be fully operational by 2031.
The system is expected to reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 13,700 tonnes over 20 years, with over 5% savings in cooling-related expenses annually.
This marks Singapore's second large-scale brownfield DDC deployment. In March 2025, SP Group implemented a DDC system in Tampines Central, making it Singapore's first town centre retrofitted with the sustainable cooling solution.

The initiative is part of Mapletree's commitment to achieve Net Zero by 2050 and supports Singapore's broader climate goals. Amy Ng, Regional CEO of Mapletree, said, “This allows assets in the precinct to achieve better space utilisation and shared savings while Mapletree embeds green solutions across our portfolio to reduce overall carbon footprint.”
