Singapore-based private equity real estate investment manager SC Capital Partners has appointed Christopher Hur as managing director, investments.

Based in Singapore, Hur will work closely with the firm’s management team to lead its hospitality initiatives and platform strategies across the region. He will also be responsible for originating, executing and growing SC Capital’s hospitality and living sector investments.

Hur brings nearly two decades of global hotel real estate and investment experience spanning acquisitions, development, operations and asset management. Prior to joining SC Capital, he was CEO of Lodgis Hospitality Holdings, a Southeast Asian hospitality platform backed by Warburg Pincus and VinaCapital, where he led the group’s strategic initiatives, platform expansion and capital management.

Previously, Hur spent almost a decade at Host Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s largest lodging REITs, holding senior investment roles across Asia Pacific and the US. He began his career in investment banking and real estate private equity at Lehman Brothers, with postings in New York and Hong Kong.

“Chris brings deep expertise across hospitality real estate investment, including strong experience in building and scaling institutional platforms,” says Suchad Chiaranussati, chairman of SC Capital Partners. “We are very pleased to have him join the firm. His appointment reinforces our conviction in the lodging sector as a core strategy and positions us to capture the next phase of growth across Asia Pacific.”

Hur holds a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Administration from Cornell University and was the inaugural recipient of the HICAP Rising Star Award.

“I am excited to join the firm and partner with the team to build on its investment strategies — particularly in hospitality — at a time when fundamentals across key markets continue to strengthen,” says Hur.

Founded in 2004, SC Capital Partners manages US$9 billion in assets. Japan represents its largest market, accounting for about 75% of total AUM. The firm’s Japan portfolio spans hospitality — its largest sector exposure — as well as data centres, logistics and industrial assets, and living sectors.

SC Capital is also the majority owner of Japan Hotel REIT Advisors, a specialist in local hotel asset management and operations. It manages a broad range of strategies, from its opportunistic Real Estate Capital Asia Partners (RECAP) series to its core-plus SCORE platform and bespoke investment solutions. Headquartered in Singapore, the firm has a presence across eight markets: Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.
