Far East Organization’s strength as one of the city’s leading property developers was on full display at the EdgeProp Singapore Excellence Awards 2025, where it took to the stage to receive nine accolades across multiple categories.

The award-winning streak culminated with Marc Boey, COO of Far East International and Executive Director for Property Services at Far East Organization, accepting the coveted Top Developer Award on the company’s behalf.

Far East Organization and its developer partners also picked up several other awards this year:

Honouring the past

One Holland Village (OHV) and The Golden Mile were among Far East Organization’s standout projects at this year’s awards. Both are mixed-use developments in well-known neighbourhoods that honour the past while shaping communities and ecosystems for the future.

OHV is a completed mixed-use development in the vibrant Holland Village neighbourhood. The development comprises the 296-unit One Holland Village Residences, the 255-unit serviced residences Quincy House, the three-storey One Holland Village mall, offices and community spaces.

The private residences saw positive take-up when they launched in December 2019, moving 98 units (33%) during its weekend launch. The sales momentum continued, and cumulative sales crossed the 80% threshold in January 2023 before the project was sold out in August that year. The sub-sale of a three-bedroom, high-floor unit in February for $3,781 psf, set a new benchmark for the condo.

The communal heart of One Holland Village is the 5,702 sq ft Village Square — a pet-friendly area within the mall, framed by shopfronts. Since its completion last year, the open plaza has hosted various placemaking events and become a familiar meeting spot for residents and visitors alike.

The developers also collaborated closely with the authorities to create a seamless flow between the mall, the existing shophouses along Lorong Mambong and Lorong Liput and Holland Village Market and Food Centre.

The design of the Village Square is grounded in placemaking and public engagement that also echoes the vibrancy and close-knit community of the area, says Boey. Architecturally, the design reinterprets the form and function of traditional shophouses, like the ones found along Lorong Mambong and Lorong Liput, in a fresh contemporary language that pays attention to scale, materiality and massing, he adds.

“The integration of old and new was a deliberate and central tenet of the planning process for OHV,” says Boey. “Our goal is to build a new development that will enhance what makes Holland Village special in ways that are meaningful, sustainable and community-led”.

The diversity and quality of the retail mix at OHV have also been key strengths of the project, adding a well-rounded range of tenants across various sectors. Brands such as Sony and Marks & Spencer have tailored their outlets there to be pet-friendly, and Plain Meredith, Baker’s Brew’s first pet café concept, was developed for this space.

Conserving an icon

Far East Organization is also working with Perennial Holdings on The Golden Mile, a restoration of the former Golden Mile Complex and the most ambitious urban renewal project involving a large-scale strata-titled conserved building. The conservation efforts by the developers, in partnership with DP Architects and Studio Lapis, were recognised with the Excellence in Landmark Conservation award this year.

The conserved building has been repositioned into a commercial project with 156 office units, 19 medical suites and a two-storey 123,388 sq ft retail atrium. Far East Organization is leading the development of Aurea, a new 45-storey residential tower with 188 luxury units.

The development plays an integral role in the rejuvenation of the Beach Road and will be a landmark project along a strategic urban corridor linking the Downtown Core with the Kallang-Bugis transformation area, says Boey. “Together with Aurea, this renewal reflects a thoughtful balance between preservation and modern living, ensuring the mixed-use development remains vibrant and relevant for future generations,” he says.

The challenge presented to Far East was how to conceptualise Aurea as a new luxury residential tower next to the familiar profile of an iconic landmark, that would also feel like an integrated part of the entire mixed-use development.

Aurea adapts and reinterprets The Golden Mile’s Brutalist architectural form as a horizontal linear city concept, into a new vertical linear city-living design that elevates liveability against a backdrop of panoramic city and bay views, adds Boey.

Several architectural features throughout Aurea also interpret the essence of The Golden Mile’s conserved Brutalist architectural language in a modern setting, such as the oculus windows, Mondrian-inspired fenestration and hanging gardens. Sky terraces on the ninth and 18th floors are also visually aligned with The Golden Mile, harmonising the two towers into a cohesive architectural narrative.

Just as One Holland Village and the placemaking efforts by Far East have added to the vibrancy of the Holland Village precinct, The Golden Mile and Aurea are well-positioned to help anchor the transformation of a new urban corridor along Beach Road. “Within this context, Aurea stands at the intersection of conservation and renewal, offering residents a home that is both part of the city’s architectural legacy and its future growth,” says Boey.

Sustainability for better living

Today, sustainability in real estate covers many aspects of a development. Focusing on the features that matter most to buyers has been a key part of Far East Organization’s approach.

Homebuyers today increasingly value developments that offer practical and measurable sustainability that contribute to their living experience. This includes features that improve energy and water efficiency, lower utility costs and enhance the overall comfort of the development, says Boey.

Buyers also see a high Green Mark certification as an assurance of sustainable quality. Wellness and the desire for more green spaces, natural ventilation and ample daylight are also green priorities that buyers prioritise, he says.

The 341-unit Hillhaven is on track to attain BCA’s highest Green Mark certification, the Platinum Super Low Energy rating. Attaining this means the project achieves energy savings of at least 60% compared to the 2005 building codes.

Solar panels supply electricity to key communal facilities, offsetting about 30% the energy used by the function rooms, pool areas and indoor gyms. A drip irrigation system with rain sensors and timer controls also helps with overall water efficiency.

This year, the panel of judges recognised the sustainability features at Hillhaven, a 341-unit development by Far East Organization and Sekisui House. They praised the project’s sustainable living through the thoughtful integration of architecture, landscape and community spaces. They noted that the project takes a holistic approach to sustainability that balances liveability, environmental performance and long-term maintainability.

Hillhaven won Top Development and Sustainability Excellence awards.

Instead of focusing on individual green features, Hillhaven integrates passive design strategies, construction innovations and ecological enhancements into one cohesive framework. More than 50% of the site is dedicated to green and water-based spaces, contributing aesthetically as well as actively reducing surface heat with passive cooling.

Hillhaven launched for sale last January, moving about 59 units (17%) when the project launched on Jan 20. The project has sold more than 328 units (96%) to date and set an average selling price of $2,188 psf.
