Aurea, a 45-storey luxury tower next to the historic Golden Mile on Beach Road, received the Landscape Excellence and People’s Choice (Residential, Uncompleted) awards at the EdgeProp Singapore Excellence Awards (EPEA) 2025.
Designed by DP Architects as a biophilic urban retreat, Aurea comprises 188 apartments connected via a sky bridge to The Golden Mile — the conserved block of the former Golden Mile Complex, built in 1972. The restored building will house a curated mix of retail outlets, medical suites, and office spaces, creating a seamless live-work-play ecosystem.
Jointly developed by Far East Organization and Perennial Holdings, The Golden Mile is Singapore’s first large-scale mixed-use project to combine a collective sale with conservation.

A dialogue between heritage and modernity
Derived from the Latin word for “golden” or “gilded”, Aurea is envisioned as a new architectural icon that marks the next chapter in the evolution of the Golden Mile Complex and downtown Singapore, says Seah Chee Huang, CEO of DP Architects.
While the tower’s façade is sleek and formal, its interiors are designed to be warm and inviting — “like bungalows in the sky”, Seah adds.
Aurea’s design pays homage to the Golden Mile’s Brutalist heritage, reflected in the oculus motifs and ceramic mosaics. Communal planters on alternate floors evoke the feel of tropical hanging gardens.
“In Aurea, the landscape design draws on the philosophy of the Golden Mean — the classical ideal of balance and proportion — where hanging gardens and sky terraces unfold like living poetry, creating harmony between nature, art and everyday life,” says Yvonne Tan, co-head and director of DP Green, the landscape architect of the project.

Landscaped facilities and sky gardens
Residents enjoy an extensive suite of facilities across three landscaped levels, each designed as a green sanctuary.
Level 3 features a wellness retreat with a 25m infinity pool, spa, clubhouse, a children’s play area, and tranquil garden nooks.

Level 17 offers panoramic city and bay views, with the Dining Room lounge, Viewing Point terrace, Rock Gardens for co-working, and Hammock Gardens for relaxation.
Level 33 features another 25m infinity pool, a gym, a bouldering wall, a fitness zone, a Sun Deck with water jet seats, and a Serenity Deck for calm and contemplation.

“These themed landscaped spaces — from the Rock Gardens to the Hammock Gardens — create urban sanctuaries where residents can unwind,” says Seah of DP Architects.
Ng Sze Oun, director of greenscaping studio Compound Collaborative and a judge on this year’s awards panel, commends the project’s vertical greening strategy. “Stacking common gardens vertically creates additional green spaces — a strategy especially relevant in land-scarce cities like Singapore,” he notes.
“Residents can enjoy the luxury of private greenery without the burden of upkeep,” adds Ng. “The gardens — including the greenery outside the balconies — will be maintained by professional horticultural teams to ensure a cohesive visual language across the façade.”

Distinct residential collections
The residences at Aurea span three distinct collections, each set amid lush greenery.
The Prestige Collection (Levels 4–32) offers 112 two- and three-bedroom units ranging from 635 sq ft to 1,001 sq ft, with wall-to-wall windows that frame sweeping city views.
The Signature Collection comprises 56 four-bedroom apartments sized between 1,442 sq ft and 1,798 sq ft. These units feature private lift access and balconies with floor-to-ceiling glass doors that overlook the Kallang waterfront, Marina Bay, and city landmarks, including the Singapore Indoor Stadium and Singapore Flyer.
Crowning the tower is the Sky Villa Collection (Levels 34–45), consisting of 20 five- and six-bedroom residences. The five-bedroom units range from 2,863 sq ft to 3,251 sq ft, while the two six-bedroom penthouses — a 5,608 sq ft duplex and an 8,816 sq ft triplex with a private pool — occupy the topmost levels.
Each Sky Villa commands 180-degree panoramic views of the waterfront and city skyline, with private lift access for all units.

‘Spatial experience of a landed home with high-rise setting’
Since its launch in March, units in the 99-year leasehold tower have achieved an average price of $3,068 psf, peaking at $3,691 psf when a 3,251 sq ft five-bedroom unit on the 39th floor sold for $12 million in June.
Selected units feature shared sky gardens, says Ng of Compound Collaborative. “They offer residents the spatial experience of a landed home within a high-rise setting,” he adds.
Together, Aurea and The Golden Mile embody the harmony between heritage and modern living — where architecture, landscape, and community intertwine to redefine tropical urban luxury.
