Should you consider staying in a condo if you’re a pet parent? According to Singapore’s Housing Development Board (HDB), “Cats are not allowed in flats. They are generally difficult to contain within the flat. When allowed to roam indiscriminately, they tend to shed fur and defecate or urinate in public areas, and also make caterwauling sounds, which can inconvenience your neighbours.”
What if you prefer to stay with your parents? A 2-bedroom condo is basically easier to maintain or clean as it is smaller in size and your parents can use the condo facilities beyond the living space, you and your parents can spend quality time as a family or in private within the well-designed development.

2. Newly Married Couple - 3-bedroom HDB flat
Just married? And can’t wait to start a family this Valentine’s? Or simply want to avoid your in-laws? Resale HDB flat will be your best choice if you are time-sensitive but be prepared to buffer for some serious renovation budget. It would be wise to invest a little more, e.g. re-tile of the flooring, so that would last you for the next Minimum Occupation Period.
Quick tip: If you plan for a family, look at re-sale flats in the non-mature estates as we have been told there are more infant care centres in these areas compared to the matured ones e.g. Bishan.

HDB jumbo flats were created by knocking down walls between adjacent 3-room and 4- room in a one-off move by the Government to clear off unsold inventory in 1989.
Ranging in size from 1,582 sq ft up to 2,142 sq ft, these unit types are mostly found in the Outside Central Region mature estates - Woodlands, Yishun and Tampines; there are also Jumbo HDB-flats found closer to the city core.
