Penthouse at Meyer House sold at $13.8 mil

A 5,673 sq ft, four-bedroom penthouse at luxury condominium project Meyer House was sold for $13.8 million ($2,434 psf) on July 16, according to a caveat lodged with URA Realis. This marks the first unit in the development that was sold since Phase Two reopening after the Covid-19 “circuit breaker” period.
The sale was brokered by ERA Realty Network. The penthouse was purchased by a Singaporean who was attracted to its spaciousness, says Doris Ong, ERA’s COO. Besides the size of the penthouse, another attraction is the exclusivity of the development. Each unit has its own dedicated lift and private lobby while the penthouse has its own dedicated parking spaces too.
Meyer House is a redevelopment of the former Nanak Mansions, which listed property developer UOL Group and Kheng Leong Co., the private property arm of billionaire banker Wee Cho Yaw, had purchased en bloc for $201.1 million in September 2017. The old project was torn down to make way for the development of the new 56-unit project which is in progress.

“Despite having a large land area of 110,000 sq ft, the developer of Meyer House has chosen to limit the number of units to 56, in order to build spacious units and provide lush greenery in the compound,” says ERA’s Ong.
Meyer House fronts a 60,000 sq ft public park named Meyer Road Playground. UOL and Kheng Leong are enhancing the park at their own cost to bring it in line with the internal landscaping designed by German international design and engineering firm, Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl. A private entrance to the park for residents will be created in the future. This is separate from the entrance for the public.
The penthouse, located on the top floor of the five-storey development, has four en suite bedrooms including the master and junior master suites. There are five more penthouses in the development, with sizes ranging from 5,662 sq ft to 5,683 sq ft.

Previewed in May last year, Meyer House also has a mix of three-, four- and five-bedroom units, with sizes starting from 1,873 sq ft. To date, eight units were sold at prices ranging from $7.6 million ($2,211 psf) for a first-level unit to $13.8 million ($2.434 psf) for the penthouse. The highest psf price of $2,700 was achieved when a 2,971 sq ft, four-bedroom unit was sold for $8 million in June last year.
The design architect for Meyer House is WOHA. The celebrated architectural firm that has also designed UOL and Kheng Leong’s other recent projects such as The Tre Ver in Potong Pasir, Pan Pacific Orchard and Parkroyal on Pickering as well as past projects including Newton Suites and One Moulmein Rise.
The interiors of the units at Meyer House are designed by Yabu Pushelberg, the firm famous for designing the interiors of luxury hotels such as Four Seasons New York and The Times Square Edition, New York, Park Hyatt Bangkok as well as the Raffles Resort Sentosa and Spa in Singapore. Meyer House marks the firm’s first private residential project in Singapore.
Meyer House is located on Meyer Road, a neighbourhood where in the past, many of the “old rich” families had homes. Hence, it is often been referred to as the “Nassim of the East”. The District 15 neighbourhood is also the most prestigious residential enclave outside the traditional prime Districts 9, 10 and 11 in the Orchard Road neighbourhood.
Besides proximity to the East Coast Park and the beach, Meyer House will also be within a four-minute walk of the upcoming Tanjong Katong MRT station on the Thomson-East Coast Line. Top schools in the area include Tao Nan School, Chung Cheng High School and Victoria School.
