When Dr KK Queck bought their first landed home, the couple were prepared to invest a significant sum in renovations to make the space their own.
What they did not expect was how little they would need to do.
The 42-year-old neurologist had spent years living in a condo before the couple decided they needed more space. They wanted a home that could comfortably accommodate their three cocker spaniels while also providing enough room to host family and friends.
The couple viewed between five and seven properties before deciding on a $7.8 million semi-detached home developed by Sevens Group.

While many of the homes they viewed offered generous floor areas, some also contained awkward corners and pockets of space that were difficult to use meaningfully. The house they eventually chose stood out for having a layout that felt efficient and adaptable from the outset.
"We wanted something functional," says Queck. "The layout was square and the space could be fully utilised."

As the house was bought directly from the developer, many of its key features were already in place. The kitchen, bathrooms and core finishes had already been completed, allowing the couple to focus their renovation budget on selected areas of the home rather than starting from scratch.
"The house already came with most of what we needed, so we didn't have to do very much," says Queck, adding that they limited their renovation works only to the living area, master bedroom, and converted a junior master bedroom into a study.
However, there was one area they deliberately chose not to alter: the kitchen.

The home came with two kitchens: a wet kitchen for heavier cooking and an open-plan kitchen for entertaining. Both came fitted with a suite of premium built-in appliances from Swiss appliance manufacturer V-ZUG.
The wet kitchen came with a FoodCentre V2000 refrigerator with an ice and water dispenser, a 70cm three-burner black glass gas cooktop, as well as a cooker hood.

Meanwhile, the open-plan kitchen included the Steamer V4000, Combair V2000 oven and WineCooler V4000, along with an integrated chiller and freezer, Jumbo T and Iglu T. The refrigeration system is fully flush with the custom architectural millwork, reinforcing the kitchen’s seamless, ultra-integrated design.
For Queck, the open-concept kitchen was part of what made the home attractive in the first place.
“While we reimagined and renovated other areas of the house to inject our personal aesthetic, the kitchen layout and its existing V-ZUG appliances were the columns we refused to touch,” he says.
“The inclusion of V-ZUG appliances significantly influenced our decision to purchase this property. Knowing that the development came fitted with such a prestigious brand adds tremendous value and assures us that we are investing in a space that is both functional and luxurious.”
The integrated appliance suite complemented the overall design of the home, while V-ZUG’s reputation as a trusted Swiss manufacturer instilled confidence in the owner, knowing that their appliances have a history of lasting more than 20 years, eliminating concerns about costly repairs or replacements in the future.

Beyond functionality, the appliances also contributed to the kitchen's understated aesthetic. Ovens sit flush within the cabinetry, while the refrigeration units integrate neatly into the layout, creating a space that feels cohesive and intentionally designed.
“When your day revolves around complex neurological evaluations and nuanced clinical decisions, your eyes crave a place to rest,” Queck says. “V-ZUG’s minimalist lines and seamless color integration act as a form of emotional decompression.”

As a neurologist and co-founder of KK Queck Neurology Centre in Mount Alvernia Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, much of Queck’s day revolves around managing complex neurological conditions and making high-stakes clinical decisions.
That expectation shapes how he evaluates technology, including the appliances he uses every day.
"In clinical diagnostics and patient management, the most sophisticated technology is always the most intuitive," he says. "You cannot afford to waste mental bandwidth on a complex user interface."
