Seventy Saint Patrick’s, The Tembusu clinch Development Excellence for non-Central

For Development Excellence Award (Non-Central), the two projects that won the day were Seventy Saint Patrick’s by UOL Group and Wing Tai Holdings’ The Tembusu.
The 186-unit Seventy Saint Patrick’s was designed by Consortium 168, and is an extremely unique development, taking an organic approach to site planning and design that weaves facilities and gardens together to create a sense of tranquillity, according to Joyce Sng, deputy general manager of product development at UOL.
Despite the site area of 139,398 sq ft, the low-rise residential blocks are arranged in a manner where each block faces a different aspect of the surrounding amenities. “This gave more options to buyers when we launched the project in 2014,” says Sng. “Seventy Saint Patrick’s is exemplary of UOL’s unwavering commitment to innovative and quality excellence in all our developments.”
As for the 337-unit The Tembusu, the project was designed by Khoo Peng Beng and Belinda Huang, the duo at Arc Studio Architecture & Urbanism. What stood out for the judges was that it was a redevelopment of Wing Tai’s former garment factory and headquarters at Tampines Road.
“The Tembusu will always be a special project for me, personally, and for many of our staff,” according to Edmund Cheng, deputy chairman and deputy managing director of Wing Tai, on winning the award. “We wanted to preserve the site's heritage, without keeping old physical buildings, and to celebrate how we have succeeded in creating value, for past and new generations.”
