SINGAPORE (EDGEPROP) - Riding on the recent focus on wellness, hospitality firm The Banyan Tree Group has pushed out a new concept to address this trend at its properties.
The hospitality firm launched its wellness programme at Banyan Tree Samui and Banyan Tree Krabi on Oct 1. Named Wellbeing Sanctuary, it aims to provide guests with dedicated schedules that include relaxing activities like massage and hydrotherapy sessions, or more active workouts like Thai boxing, hiking through nature trails and sailing.
“When guests book a Wellbeing Sanctuary, they have the flexibility to choose their own activities,” said Remko Kroesen, area general manager overseeing both hotels. “Before arrival, we send them a questionnaire so they can stipulate their goals, and our practitioners will be on hand throughout their stay to ensure they have every opportunity to connect with nature, discover a sense of deep relaxation, and find balance.”

The hospitality firm began rolling out its Wellbeing Sanctuary programme this March, starting in China, and is progressively launching the programme in its resorts worldwide.
“We believe that more travellers will be focused on their health in the post-Covid period, and we want to be there to support them,” says Haruethai Maneerat, hotel manager at Banyan Tree Krabi. “Of course, many guests will still want to enjoy wining and dining, touring the sights, and that’s fine. But we anticipate that many others will be looking for a quieter, holistic, and more introspective journey.”

Under the Wellbeing Sanctuary programme, guests are given the option to select their preferred activities a day in advance. Following their flight, many may opt for a relaxing oil massage, followed by a long hot soak in their tub with bath salts, the firm says. Mornings may also begin with yoga and meditation.

Wellness amenities

To that end, the villas that offer the Wellbeing Sanctuary programme have been tweaked to offer a range of wellness amenities. These include products like yoga mats, stretch bands, and Tibetan Singing Bowls, typically used for meditation.
At Banyan Tree Samui, such villas come with an infinity pool, while those in Krabi open out into a private garden, ideal for private wellbeing activities.
