BCA and IMDA launch initiative to promote robotics and automation adoption

SINGAPORE (EDGEPROP) - The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) have launched a call for proposals for integrated robotics & automation solutions to improve productivity and reduce labour dependency in Singapore’s built environment sector.

The initiative was unveiled by Tan Kiat How, Minister of State for National Development and Communications & Information, during his keynote speech at the International Built Environment Week 2021 on Sept 9.

Robotics and automation is a key thrust in the government’s industry transformation plan under the digitalisation pillar of the Construction Industry Transformation Map. The current Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the need to accelerate the adoption of robotics and automation solutions to reduce dependency on low-skilled manpower.

The latest initiative is called the Integrated Robotics & Automation Solutions, and it will be funded through IMDA’s Advanced Digital Solutions support. This will provide an 80% funding support for qualifying costs to adopt successful integrated solutions.

Successful solutions must be cost-efficient and scalable to reduce reliance on low-skilled manpower and increase construction productivity, as well as improve safety at worksites.

Interested robotics and automation solution providers may register their interest in the call for proposals by reaching out to IMDA.
