Ex-COO of ERA Thomas Tan joins SRI as CEO

SRI, one of Singapore's top five real estate agencies, announced the appointment of Thomas Tan as the new CEO on December 1.

Tan was formerly the COO of ERA Singapore -- the second-largest real estate agency by salesforce and part of the listed company, APAC Realty -- from July 2021 to March 2023. He was then appointed ERA's chief learning officer (CLO) from March to August 2023.

Before he joined ERA as COO, he was the CLO at Life Mastery Academy, a course provider for the Real Estate Salesperson (RES) course, which is compulsory for all new real estate agents. Life Mastery Academy is under PropNex, the largest listed real estate agency in terms of salesforce and is accredited by the Council for Estate Agencies (CEA). Tan had been with Life Mastery for over a year, joining the firm in March 2020.

For the past eight years, Tan has been a director and key executive officer of RE Training & Consultancy (RETC), an estate agency in Singapore and president of the Singapore Estate Agents Association (SEAA). Tan has conducted the Real Estate Salesperson and Continuing Professional Development Courses at RETC and trained over 10,000 students.

He was an associate trainer for nine years from 2010 to 2019 at Real Centre Network, and before that, he spent 12 years at Remax Singapore, a real estate franchise, where he was an executive director.

"Tan was a successful real estate agent in Remax when I met him 17 years ago," relates Bruce Lye, co-founder and managing partner of SRI. "His training and leadership background makes him an ideal CEO for SRI. With his experience, he can introduce a training framework that caters to the agents of SRI."

Tan says: "I firmly believe in the incredible growth potential of SRI and its commitment to leveraging and further building upon its rich legacy."

The previous CEO of SRI was Tony Koe, who had stepped down in June this year. He was CEO of SRI since 2016.
