Wee Hur Holdings and joint venture partner BE Education have commenced construction of Wycombe Abbey School (Singapore). A groundbreaking ceremony for the international school, located along Hougang Avenue 3, was held on Jan 6.
Wee Hur is developing the school in partnership with BE Education and Wycombe Abbey International. Wycombe Abbey is a prestigious independent boarding school in Buckinghamshire, England. Through Wycombe Abbey International, it operates international schools across China and Egypt, with a Bangkok campus slated to open this year.
Wycombe Abbey School (Singapore) will be the school’s first location in the city. The co-educational institution will cater to students aged two to 18 and is slated to be fully operational by September 2028.

Although it will operate as a day school, Wycombe Abbey School (Singapore) will incorporate the hallmarks of a traditional British boarding school, including a house system, a strong pastoral care framework, and a holistic, balanced academic programme. It will also be furnished with modern facilities to support an extensive array of co-curricular activities.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Goh Wee Ping, chief investment officer of Wee Hur Holdings, William Vanbergen, founder and chairman of BE Education, as well as project partners. “What we’re starting to build here today will allow us, as Wycombe Abbey School, to provide a truly world-class education for thousands of students over the coming generations,” says Vanbergen.
He adds that facilities such as the library, swimming pools and sports amenities will be open to the public during off-peak hours when not in use by students, allowing the school to serve as a hub for the community.
According to Wee Hur’s Goh, the project adds to the company’s longstanding involvement in education-related construction projects. In 2004, the group helped to build key amenities for United World College. More recently, it completed an additional building for the Tanglin Trust School at Dover Road in 2022.
