Benjamin Quek: The realtor who rises through results — one client, one property, one legacy at a time

From his humble beginnings working overtime shifts for $7 per hour as a maintenance engineer, Quek’s journey is a story of grit, humility, and transformation.

The hustle before the hustle
“I didn’t have a break after the army,” Quek recalls. “I couldn’t take money from my parents and I had my own commitments.”
So, he joined the workforce immediately, climbing his way up from engineering roles to sales positions despite having zero experience in either.
What changed his life trajectory was a part-time role in real estate, earning just $2,000 per month, which was more than what his full-time job offered.
Quek realised the potential in the industry and made the bold move to go all in.
But it wasn’t all smooth sailing. “I had the wrong mentor at first. My sales plunged,” he recalls.
Facing financial strain, he drove Uber and did valet work at night to make ends meet. “One night, I drove a businessman, and he asked what I really wanted to do. I said, real estate. He told me to quit everything and focus.”
Quek took a personal loan of $18,000 using his best friend’s name and invested in his business. He treated it as his last shot. “I knew I had to make it work.”

Breakthrough at Huttons and clarity at PropNex
Joining Huttons helped Quek with his first real break. “I hit $300,000 in commission that year and it was a big deal for me.” He stayed there for six years, honing his skills, gaining confidence, and building a foundation of loyal clients.
But he felt stagnation creeping in. In 2023, Quek made another pivotal move: rejoining a structured and resource-rich team at PropNex, he finally found the mentorship and system he was looking for. “The resources were practical and updated. Everything could be used immediately in the field. It was exactly what I needed.”

Quek stands out for his investment-minded approach. He’s not one to “sell property”, he plans property.
He recalls taking a client to view both new launches and resale units, and looking at detailed floor plans with nearby transacted prices to assess under- or over-payment risk.
“Are you paying the right price? Will your future buyer find this property valuable? That’s good exit planning and value investing to me.”
He advises clients against rushing decisions just to upgrade or follow trends. “Some people think they should buy bigger, but the best move might be to hold or downgrade.”
Mentorship as a legacy, not a ladder
With over 10 mentees under his wing, Quek isn’t just building his business, he builds others up.
He shares everything with his team: how to present themselves, follow up on leads, communicate clearly, and engage different client profiles.
“I tell them: If you need help, I’ll be there fastest. I never had that in my first mentorship — I was left hanging for two weeks. I won’t let my mentees go through that.”
One of his proudest moments?
“Seeing one of my mentees outperform me and achieve rising millionaire status as an agent. That’s how I know I’ve succeeded.”

Quek’s reputation is built on being there: before, during, and after the deal closes.
He shares the story of a stroke survivor and his wife, whom he helped move into a cleaner, safer, four-room flat. “It wasn’t about the highest offer. It was about what was best for their health, lifestyle, and future.”
His clients describe him as “results-driven yet approachable” and someone who’s “always clear on what needs to be done and why”.
His timeline planning is so precise that it removes fear and uncertainty from even the most complicated transactions.
“My clients are smart. They don’t want stories, they want solutions. And they want to know I’ve thought it all through before they commit.”
